From Provocation to Participation: A Climate Mini Assembly for Net Zero by 2028

Facilitated by trained volunteers from Nottingham Climate Assembly, the Responsible and Sustainable Business Lab at Nottingham Business School, Nottingham Trent University hosted a Climate Mini Assembly as part of their Global Responsibility Week 2025 held in May 2025.

Bringing together global academics, business leaders, public sector representatives and students from various disciplines, the event focussed on a discussion addressing "how might business contribute to delivering net zero by 2028?"

Jaqueline Kirk, Associate Professor in Sustainable Business, Nottingham Trent University said: “Thank you to everyone who took time out of their day to make this event such a success, bringing with them key insights and reflections to stimulate some fantastic conversations. Thanks also to our keynote speakers, Jorge Santana, Natalie Robinson and Andy Batson for providing well grounded provocations and reflections to get the conversation started. We are currently working to digest the outcomes and recommendations made during this event and exploring ways in which they can be actioned in the city.”

Held at Nottingham Contemporary, the event was also the perfect opportunity to showcase WISPERS, a project developed by Jaqueline Kirk and Katja K Hock exploring how arts based interpretations might generate conversations about sustainability research.

The mini assembly added to what was a truly exciting and inspirational week.

Should your organisation wish to host their own Climate Mini Assembly, you can find an information pack within the Get Involved section providing further information to make this a reality. Get in touch and we can help facilitate your mini Assembly with our fully trained volunteers on hand to help ensure another successful event which can feed into the City-wide Assembly.
