Tuning In at The Listen Inn & Action Cafe: Conversations for Climate Action
We were delighted to attend this year’s Green Hustle where our team of volunteers were located within the Listening (The Listen Inn) Hub and Action Cafe.
Thank you to leads from our Youth Panel, Kieran and Abby, who together with Resolve Nottingham were involved in some of the key discussions at the Listening Hub.
Rosanna Wilson, Nottingham Climate Assembly Steering Group Member said: “New to Green Hustle this year, The Listen Inn was a resounding success and a great way to explore community listening with short talks followed by open discussion with prompts from ‘Listen Ears’, a play on words. These trained community listening volunteers supported and prompted discussion after the talks.
We had a wonderful opportunity to meet some of the speakers, making some great connections with young campaigners as well as organisations such as Mums for Lungs, a group campaigning for clean air for everyone. “
Members of the Steering Group, Rosanna and Sally Longford also took to the stand to discuss and explore ideas about how we can promote a space for young people to be involved in and lead elements of the agenda within the City-wide Assembly. Ideas were shared which included using creative ways to encourage a larger number of young people to contribute to the Assembly through community art. In addition there were some interesting discussions about setting up a Youth Advisory panel for the Assembly itself.
Within the Action Cafe, Steering Group members, Julian Marsh and Sally engaged with individuals discussing how organisations they are part of can host a Mini-Assembly within their workplace or community.
For those interested in having a more active involvement within Nottingham Climate Assembly, see our Get Involved section which now includes an information pack regarding ‘How to host your own Mini-Assembly’..
As ever it was great to see some old friends from Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust’s Keeping it Wild team, The Pythian Club and many more, and we’re already looking forward to following up on some of our new connections.
