In May 2026, Nottingham Climate Assembly (NCA), in partnership with Nottingham Green Partnership, brought together 57 Nottingham residents for the city's first Environment and Climate Assembly. Inspired by the success of the Nottingham Youth Climate Assembly, the assembly was designed to widen the involvement of local people in Nottingham's Carbon Neutral 2028 ambition (CN28) — bringing together residents from all walks of life to learn from experts, deliberate together, and develop recommendations for the environmental future of their city. Over two days at venues across the city centre, participants explored the question: "What would we like the environment of Nottingham to be in the future, and how can we move towards it?" The result is the Nottingham Environment and Climate Assembly Manifesto: a set of recommendations representing the genuine voices of Nottingham people, to be presented to decision makers across the city and region, including Nottingham City Council, local MPs and the East Midlands Mayor.
